Chapter 5... Patty-cake

As the Resistance Ghost Fleet enars Amity Park, Danny and Chewie get back to work on Fenton Works. The both enter the lab to start on the weapons. "And double check the ecto-filtrator," Danny said. "It's still not working as well as it should."
"Eight hours." Chewie said. "Not alot of time, is it?"
"It's all we got." Danny said.
"Chewie!" Robert called as he came down from the direct ops center access ladder. "Your assembly crew won't let me on the roof."
"That's because they're trying get the emergency defense system online."
Robert nodded. "Ah...so what am I supposed to do with these fucking missiles?!" Robert shouted.
"Why dontcha shove 'em up your ass?!"
"Guys," Sam said coming down from the ladder. "This isn't getting us anywhere. We need to buy us more time."
"How many speeders do we have left?" Robert asked.
"Just the one." Chewie said. "You'll never be able stop the attack."
"Maybe not, but I bet I can slow 'em down."
     "You'll never make it back."
"Is that what you're worried about? I thought it was because I was gonna reap all the glory."
"What good is glory when you're dead?"
"When are...we leaving?" Sam asked catching Robert's attention. "I never like staying in one spot for too long."
"Then..." Robert started as he wrapped his arm around Sam's waist. "...it's settled."
"Before you go," Danny started. "We better make damn sure you can get us the extra time."

"Me help you fight the Resistance." Mirror Misha summerized. "What a perverse idea. I have a better one, why don't I cut your throat?" Danny looked over to Misha lounging in her cell. "Quick death. MUCH less painful than anything the Regent'll do to you."
Danny removed his glasses going for the good cop-bad cop routine. "I think you should worry about what the Regent'll do to you." he pointed out.
"The Regent has no reason to question my loyalty." Misha replied.
"It's not your loyalty he'll be questioning, it's you effectiveness. As far as he's concerned, he wouldn't have to retake Amity Park if you didn't lose it in the first place."
"It was't my fault it was Tucker and the rest of those fools. I could never make them understand: violence is a persision intrument-it's a scalpal, not a goddamn club."
"Tucker was smart enough to get away."
"Tucker is a coward. He ran at the first sign of trouble."
"Right into the Regent's embracing arms where he no doubt left the blame for losing Amty Park entirely on you."
Misha looked around thinking. Danny got her this time. "You have a point." she said.
"I'm glad we understand eachother." danny said. "Now, do those ships have any weaknesses that can be exploited?" he interrogated.
Misha sat up. "Why don't you come in here and join me?" she asked. "It might help stimulate my thought process."
"I would think self preservation is stimulation enough."
"That's a very friendly attitude, especially when you want my help."
"Look, I am in no mood to play patty-cake with you, Blackhurst. I want an answer and I want it now. Do we understand eachother?" Danny snapped.
Misha looked at Danny wide-eyed. She had no clue Danny could be so demanding like that. From what she heard of him, he was always the shy and timid new kid in school. Now he's more mature and sees what he needs and goes for it. "Alright, the Resistance ships are quick and powerful but the one weakness they do have is that their targeting scanners can fooled. They've been known to chase shadows." she said.
Danny bowed slightly with a smile. "Thank you." He turns around and leaves.
"Aren't you going to let me out?" Misha asked.
     "Forget it."

Meanwhile on the Regent's ship, Walker threw Tucker to other side of the deck then grabbed his collar and picked him up. "Where is the key?!" he demanded.
"You're not listening to me," Tucker began. "I don't have the key."
"I told you," a soldier said. "he took it from me when I was feeding him!"
"Look even if I did take the key, where would I go?"
"MAybe you swallowed it." walker suggested.
Tucker stuck out his tounge. "BLECH!!! No way, I'm a very picky eater." he said.
Walker took out his pocket knife. "We shall see about that." then he stabs Tucker in the stomache.
     "Regent!" the soldier called.
     "What?!"
"The key sir." he brgan holding it. "Some how it fell into...my boot."
"Now do you beleive me?" Tucker gagged.
Walker removed the knife from Tucker's gut and put it back in his pocket. "If he dies you die!" he says to the soldier.
The radar consol behind Walker starts to beep loudly. "There's a rebel speeder off the port bow." the operator said. "They're fleeing."
"Smart move." Walker said. "But they won't get far."
As the speeder speeds away from the fleet, it is pursued by the resistance fighters which are firing their missles. "Oh crap!" Robert said. as he saw the missile.
"I sure hope these shadows work." Sam said.
"We'll know as soon as they..." Robert saw the missile suddenly turn to the left and the second one turn to the right missing the speeder all together. "Yeah!"

Meanwhile back at Amity PArk, Danny was in the ops center trying to get the auto pilot for the Fenton jet working but was having no luck. He sighed in frusteration as Carrie walked into the room. "Need an extra pair of hands?" she asked.
"Smaller ones actually." Danny said pulling himself from under the consol. Carrie bent under the consol her self. "I'm trying to get the auto pilot working right."
"I know." Carrie said. "I worked on a halfa detector remember?"
     "Oh yeah."
"You should know I told the kids the truth." Carrie said. "About my visit there, why I came everything."
     "And...?"
Carrie bent out from benath the consol and sat up. "And, Caddie said it doesn't matter. She's still glad to have met me. So if you want, I'll see to it that they're sent back to your Amity Park."
Danny bent down beneath the consol. "She has a forgiving nature." he said. "And I think sending them back would be a good idea."
Carrie's expression turned sober. "Danny," she began catching his attention. "From the moment we met there was a connection. Now because of what I did it's gone huh?"
Danny sighed feeling the same way but even worse. "I'm not sure it was real to begin with."
Carrie looked down at the metal floor and sniffed. "I'll uh...I'd better get the kids back home." Witht hat, carrie left Danny to his work.
Danny's eyes followed Carrie as she left the room. He wanted to tell her so much but was afraid to show that he still loved Carrie, even though it wasn't his Carrie. Still, he wanted to tell her what he felt but couldn't. He shook off the thought, sighed and went back to work.
