Chapter 6... Sub-space signature

"Any luck?" B'Elanna asked Harry.
Kim just shook his head. "I can't find her." He said.
"This doesn't make any sense." Tom said, leaning on the ops console. "Miral's a quarter Klingon, and three quarters human. That 25 percent should be easy to find on Earth in the 21st century."
"She might be in a heavily sheilded room or compound." Harry said.
"She could be being held at Area 51."
"Or worse."
"Whould you two just stop?!" B'Elanna snapped.
Tom and Harry looked at B'Elanna. "Well what would you have me do?" Harry said.
B'Elanna just stood there and shook her head. "I don't know." She cracked. "I just..." B'Elanna pinched her eyes to fight back the tears. she cleared her throat and looked up. "Try scanning for a sign of neurophasic energy." B'Elanna said.
Harry nodded. "Good idea." He said and began sweeping the planet for signs of neurophasic energy. "Whoa." He said.
"What?" Tom bent over the console to see that the planet is pcked with neurophasic radiation coming from ghosts all over the world. "Well that didn't help."
"Hold on." Harry said. "That's odd."
"What?" B'Elanna asked with baited breath.
"I'm picking up a sub-space signature from the northern hemisphere." Harry pointed out.
"A sub-space signature?" Tom asked.
"Sub-space technology still isn't supposed to exist 'till the 20s." B'Elanna said.
"Yet, here it is." Harry said, gestureing to the screen.
"What does this have to do with our daughter?" Tom asked.
"That's the same sub-space signature from the portal that got us here." Harry said.
"Another ghost portal?" Tom asked.
"How is that possible?" B'Elanna asked. "Not even the Federation has the kind of technology in the 24th century."
"Hold on." Harry said. "I've seen this signature before the portal." Harry dug through the sensor logs and found what he was looking for. Tom and B'Elanna could tell by his widened eyes. "Get the Captain." He said.

"The Aeon?" Janeway asked. "That was Braxton's ship right?"
"Yes, when we were taken back in time to 1996." Harry said.
"But that was 20 years ago." Chakotay said. "From our perspective."
"Well evidently, the technology from the Aeon was used to make a ghost portal."
Janeway sat up straight in the couch and looked at the tablet. "Where is this portal?" She asked.
Harry shook his head. "I can't get an exact address because of all the neurophasic radiation." He said. "But it's coming from northern Illinois."
"Well that narrows it down." Chakotay said. "Is there anyway of cutting through the interference?"
Harry thought for a while. "We could use the planet's own satellites to get a clearer look. But the interference in the radio signals would be obvious and they'd know we're here."
"I remember something at the Academy talking about a lab in northern Illanois." Janeway mentioned. "Its main computer was in a geosincranis orbit for security reasons."
Harry just stood there and blinked, but he remember something about the lab too. "Axiom Labs." Harry said.
"That's the one." Janeway said. "Maybe we could use it to connect our computer and use their sensors to find the portal."
"That satellite uses 21st century technology." Chakotay pointed out. "It may not even be capatable and we'd crash their computer blowing our cover."
"We should at least try." Harry said.
"If we do try we'll be discovered." Chakotay argued.
"Commander, with all due respect, if we don't try Miral would be lost down there on 21st century Earth." Harry argued. "A single quarter Klingon living on a planet with a paranoid post-industrial society is not exactly a match made in heaven."
"We've all had to make sacrifices to get this far." Chakotay said.
"How can you say that?" Harry turned to face him. "That's my firend's daughter down there and she's as much his daughter as she is everyone's on this ship!"
"Stop it!" Janeway snapped. "Both of you." Chakotay and Harry returned standing at attention. Janeway looked at Harry. "Lieutenant, see if you can connect our computer with the Axiom L:abs satellite. Find that portal."
"Yes ma'am." Harry responed.
"Dismissed."
Harry turned and made his way for the door leaving Janeway and Chakotay in the office. "Kathryn," Chakotay started. "Do you really think she's worth breaking the Temporal Prime Directive?"
Janeway sipped her tea. "The damage is done, Chakotay." She said. "There really is no point in following it anyway. Braxton's job was to enforce the Temporal Prime Directive." Janeway educated. "But in the end he allowed some one from 1996 to take his ship and destroyed Earth's solar system in one timeline and destroyed Voyager in another because he was suffering from Temporal Psychosis, so what's the point?"
Chakotay rested his hands on his waist ad sighed. "All right. You have a point." He said. "The damage is done and time is impossible to control. But I still don't think she's worth the lives of this crew or the ship itself."
"You sound just the way you did 19 years ago when we brought Seven onboard." Janeway mentioned. "And like so many crewmembers when we first got lost in Delta quaderant and combined our two crews."
Chakotay nodded, seeing her point. "Why are we risking our lives for them? Are they really worth it?" He quoted. "I heard the same questions everyday for the next three years until we took back the ship from the Kazon."
"When we learned that we're better off together than apart." Janeway said standing up and taking a step in front of Chakotay. "If I allow that girl to be stranded on Earth of the past, the crew would stop trusting us and eventually would mutiny. We can't let that happen. And in order for this to work we need to be on the same page."
Chakotay sighed. "Alright." He yeilded. "We'll play it your way, Kathryn. I just didn't want to risk the ship and crew."
"I understand." Janeway nodded.
The intercom booped. "Kim to Janeway."
"Go ahead." She responded.
"We have a connection with the Axiom Labs computer."

Janeway stepped onto the bridge anticapating a report. "We found the source of the sub-space signal." Harry said.
"Location?"
"It's at coordinates longitude 49 degrees west, 36 degrees north." Harry said. "A city called Amity Park."
"Mr. Paris." Janeway called.
"Yes ma'am?" Tom said from the helm.
"You and B'Elanna beam down to the surface. We think we found your daughter."
"Thank you, Captain." Tom said leaving the bridge.
"I hope they don't do anything stupid." Chakotay said.
"I'm more worried about her doing something stupid than him." Janeway said.
