Chapter 2... The Ghost Zone

Voyager glided through dark green dimension on low power while Miral was sleeping unconcious in sickbay. "What happened, to her?" Tom asked the Doctor.
The holographic Doctor looked up at Tom and sighed. "I'm not sure." He said. "But if I had to guess the penetration of the event horizon from the portal must've used the phaser beam as a conduit to her."
"Will she be okay?" B'Elanna asked.
"Here's where things get odd." The Doctor said, guiding the parents to computer screen in front of the bed. he brought up a diagram of her DNA and brainwaves. "Her DNA seems to have been coated in some kind of plasma based genetic material." He showed them.
Tom looked at the screen. Her DNA was indeed coated with a glowing green substance that stuck to it like a second skin.
"Plasma based genetic material?" B'Elanna repeated. "That's impossible. No life form or any form of biomatter could exist if it was plasma based." B'Elanna may have been an engineer, but she knew enough about xenobiology to understand what life can be made from. Plasma was not one of these bases.
"And yet here she is." The Doc pointed out. "and her brainwave patterns have been amplified."
"That's the same level of neurological activity as we saw surrounding the portal." Tom mentioned.
"You mean our daughter's gonna turn into a non-corporial quarter klingon?"
The Doctor shook his head. "Her immune systems seems to be keeping the plasma from manipulating her DNA. All it's doing now is just sitting there and I don't think it'll go any further than that."
B'Elanna looked at her daughter in the bed again. "What about her hair?" She asked.
The Doctor shrugged and rested his chin in his hand. "I don't know." He said. "It may only be a slight side effect of her body fighting to keep the battle within her at a stale-mate, acting as a way of venting the extra energy keeping her from overheating."
"Like a tail pipe from a car." Tom said.
The Doc sighed and B'Elanna face palmed. "In effect, yes." The Doctor said. "In the long run, your daughter will be alright."
B'Elanna sighed in relief and her husband hugged her.

Meanwhile, Naomi was looking over the navigational sensors, seeing is she could detect anything tangible. A star, an asteroid something she could use a reference point in order to figure out where exactly they are. She released a frusterated sigh and Icheb noticed how frusterated she was and came to her help. "You okay?" He asked leaning on the railing.
"I'm alright." Naomi said. Then she shook her head. "Chakotay has me bending over backwards trying to figure out where we are."
"And?"
"Nothing!" Naomi slapped the console. "I can't find anything out there execpt neurophasic energy and lots of it. It's fogging up sensors making it impossible to pick up anything beyond what our naked eye can see."
"Which isn't much." Icheb said. "Maybe we should find a way out of this... zone and back to normal space."
Naomi shrugged. "That part's easy," She said. "The fun part is gonna be where we end up after we pass through the portal."
Icheb sighed and scratched the edge of his Borg implant. He was Ildrian, an alien species native to the Delta Quaderant. He was liberated from the Borg by Seven of Nine along with several others his age and younger. He was about sixteen at the time and was ready and willing to except his humanity because the leader of his Borg unit was an asshole anyway.
Naomi Wildman was half K'tarian, half human. Her Mom, Samantha, served on Voyager as science officer. Her Dad's name is unpronouncable by the human tongue and wanted nothing to do with Starfleet. After he heard his daughter had been born on Voyager, he was extatic and wanted to meet her, but he'd have to wait a couple years to say the least.
Both Icheb and Naomi have been friends since Naomi was six years old and they both were very close to Chakotay's wife, Seven. She's dead now. Seven died after an away mission. She was badly wounded because of the Fen'Do'Mar, a hostile alien race who didn't take too kindly to someone jacking their dylithium. She made it back to Voyager only top die in the arms of her husband. Seven was Voyager's mascot so to speak. She was liberated from the borg like Icheb, and was no older than six when she was assimilated so it took a little longer for her to accept her humanity.
"Bring it to the Captain." Icheb told Naomi.
Naomi looked at Icheb. "What about Chakotay?" She asked.
"Forget him." Icheb said. "The Captain makes the bigger decisions and needs to know how to get back. She couldn't care less about where we are."
Naomi sighed and picked up a tablet. "Okay, but I'm gonna need a wingman."
icheb smiled. "I got your back."

"All we need t do is punch a hole through sub-space and we're home free." Naomi said.
JAneway looked back up from the tablet placing her dented metel coffee mug on her desk. "Any ideas as to where we'll end up after we do?" She asked.
Naomi and Icheb shook their heads in unicen. "No." Icheb said. "We could end up in another galaxy all together or Earth's orbit. There's just no way to tell."
Janeway brushed a hand through her red turning-grey hair and closed her eyes to think. "Whatever it takes to get out of this-what does the crew call it?"
"The Ghost Zone." Naomi said.
"Charming." Janeway commented. "How would we punch a hole in the fabric of this space?" She asked.
"Naomi's got a theory." Icheb said.
"An inverse warp field." Naomi said. "Since warp drive in designed to bend space around us under normal circumstances, an inverse warp field in sub-space will be enough to tear a hole into normal space taking us through it."
"But sub-space is as foldable and bendable as normal space." Janeway said, being a scientist herself. "Have you figure out how to disrupt sub-space enough to tear a hole in it?" she asked as if she were giving out a pop-quiz.
Naomi thought about it. "Uhh... sub-space..."
"T-t-t-t-"
"Transmission!" Janeway and Naomi said in unison.
"A standard hailing frecuency will send ripples through sub-space thinning its fabric to the point of collapse!" Naomi clapped and pumped a fist in the air. "I am awesome!"
"Wha...?" Icheb went.
"It's like opening a bag of chips." Janeway said. "Bend back and forth enough and it'll tear."
Icheb gave the thumbs up he understood. "Right."
Janeway handed Naomi back the tablet. "Get to work." she ordered.
"Yes ma'am." Icheb and Naomi said vacanting the ready room.
The intercom booped. "Bridge to Janeway." Harry said.
Janeway tapped her badge. "Go ahead."
"We've got incoming."
Janeway shot up from her chair and hurried for the bridge.

A glowing red ball of energy slammed into the shields of the ship. It came from what looked like a glowing green pirate ship, flying through sub-space. It came along side Voyager and continued firing its cannons.
The bridge rumbled from the impact as Tom came from sickbay to man his station at the helm. "What the hell is that?" Janeway asked looking at the viewscreen, hardly believing her eyes.
Harry couldn't belive his eyes either. "It appears to be a pirate ship." Harry said.
"I know that, Mr. Kim." Janeway said. "I mean what is it really?"
Harry shrugged. "It's a pirate ship!"
The shields were impacted again. "Sheilds at 84 percent." Icheb reported.
"Return fire." Janeway ordered and Icheb fired an orange phaser beam from the bonze colored strips running along side the front of the ship. The beam harmlessly phased through the mast of the pirate ship. Icheb shook his head. "It just phased through it!"
"What?!" Janeway asked running up to tactical. "It's made of the same neurophasic energy as the bubble that pushed us in the portal."
"And there's life signs on that ship." Icheb pointed out.
Tom had the same thing on his screens. "They're similar to that bioplasmic coating on Miral's DNA." He noticed.
"The only difference is these guys are centiant." Icheb said.
Another impact in one of Voyager's soft spots shook the ship to her bones. The surplus energy from the impact overloaded a conduit in the ceiling.
"Sheilds down to 50 percent!" Icheb reported.
"Captain..." Harry said. "I'm getting reports from several decks that skeletons are phasing through the bulkheads. I think we're being boarded."
"Ye catch on quick for a yellow belly!" A young echoing voice cracked.
Tom looked about the bridge along with everyone else. "What the f--"
Before Tom could finish, skeletons and what looked like decompsing bodies phased through the ceiling and took swords, knives and sharpened bones to the crews throats. Janeway was left alone and noticed a child with green hair wearing a pirate outfit, complete with peg leg and talking parrot. Well, a skeleton parrot "Just because he's asian, doesn't make him a yellow belly." The parrot squaked in an annoyed british accent.
"Really?" The kid said. "Then what does it mean?"
"It means he's a coward. SQUAK!"
"Who are you?!" Janeway demanded. "What gives yout he right take attack my ship and take my crew hostage?"
"To answer your questions in order..." The floating kid cleared his throat. "Ahoy! I be Captain Youngblood! Scourge of the Seven Seas and the Ghost Zone and I and my skeleton crew are simply here to commendear your vessel."
"Skeleton crew." Tom laughed. "I get it!"
"Tom." Janeway said.
"Oh right..." Tom cleared his own throat. "You'll never get away with this!" Tom gave the Capatin a thumbs up.
Janeway rolled her eyes. "I'm afraid I can't hand over my ship to someone as... young as you kid." She smirked.
Youngblood produced a sling shot out of nowhere and aimed a glowing red ball for Janeway. He let it go sending her to the deck. "Don't call me kid!" He said, then stuck his tongue out at her.
"Youngblood." another echoing voice came through. This one deeper and softer and had an air of wisdom to it. "These people are not of this world." It said. "You know that just because they're different doesn't mean they're our property."
"But that's how they treat us!" Youngblood snapped back.
"So, humans treat us as if we were their slaves?"
"No, that's not what I..."
"Return to your realm." The voice commanded. "Now!"
The skeleton ghosts retreated through the bulkheads and ceiling leaving Youngblood floating about the bridge. "Hey! Get back here!" He commanded, but no one listened. they simply flew back to their ship at full speed.
Janeway stood back up and Youngblood flew back to his ship and they retreated into the darkness of the Ghost Zone.
A bright blue flash occured on the bridge. A flash so bright the crew had to shield their eyes. Once it had disapated, a floating figure that looked like an old blue grandfather clock robe, but no legs, with red eyes and blue skin plus a scar blemishing his face was witnessed to approach Janeway.
Icheb pulled a phaser out from under the tactical console and aimed for the spectre.
The ghost shifted from an old man to an infant and looked straight at Icheb. "Your weapons will have no effect on me, Icheb." It said in the same deep soft voice.
Icheb lowered his weapon and raised an eyebrow. "How do you know my name?" He asked.
"I'm getting to that." The ghost said as it shifted to adalesence. It faced Janeway. "Captain Kathyrn Janeway," it began. "I am Clockwork, Master of Time."
