The New Kid ch. 4

Chapter 4... Card tricks

     It was a Saturday at the Nasty Burger and everyone was enjoying themselves, except for Danny who looked a little grumpier than usual who was sitting at his usual seat with Tucker feircly chomping away at his Nasty BLT Burger.

Tucker: What's wrong with you?
Danny: I saw Robert and Sam last night.
Tucker: What's so bad about...
Danny: No you don't understand, Robert was on a flying surfboard with Sam last night.
Tucker: Oh you mean that new ghost kid?
Danny: Tucker, this is serious. Robert Slezak comes into town, so does Robert Wraith. Robert Slezak starts hitting on Sam, so does Robert Wraith.
Tucker: Since when was the new ghost boy hitting on Sam?
Danny: When he saved her life, when he took her for a ride.
Tucke: I think you're just being paranoid, or jelous.
Danny: Jelous? Pff. Why would I be jelous?
Tucker: Because you never took her flying, because you never kissed her spider-man style, because you never admitted your true feelings to her like he did.
Danny: I heard enough Tucker.
Sam: (opens the door to the resteraunt with Robert and walks up to her seat)
robert: Howdy, howdy, howdy.
Tucker: Howdy yourself. Take a load off m' man.
Robert and Sam sit down from across eachother.
Tucker: (notices Robert's guitar case) So what's in the case?
Robert: What do you think?
Sam: Robert plays guitar and makes good money from it. He's got a gig at his neighbor's pizzaria and he's asked me to help in a duet.
Danny: Did he now?
Sam: Yeah he did. I'm gonna go order.
Tucker: Okay.
Sam: (gets up and heads for the counter)
Robert: Ya love her?
Danny: What?
Robert: Ya love her, don't you?
Danny: Love who, Sam?
Robert: Yes.
Danny: No, no. We're just friends.
Robert: Are you sure? 'Cause you and her, I can see some chemistry between the two of you.
Danny: Oh no. There is nothing between us, I'm just concerned that she's dating the wrong guy.
Robert: So if I'm the wrong guy, then who's the right guy?
Danny: Uh...um...
Robert: I thought so. But you gotta be quick 'cause if you don't make a move, some one will.
Sam: (returns to her seat with a tofu soy melt.)
Robert: Tofu soy melt?
Sam: Yup.
Robert: Well you gotta eat more than that.
Sam: what are you vegitarian?
Robert: No not really, but if I was I'd get more than just tofu on a bun, like a fruit salad or something like that.
Sam: (takes a bite out of her sandwich)
Robert: Hey uh... you wanna see some card tricks?
Sam: Sure.
Tucker: A meal and a show? I love the new guy!
Robert: (takes out his deck of playing cards and shuffles and as he does so, the teenagers around him start to gather around. He finishes shuffling and hands it to Sam) Pick a card.(Sam takes a card which is the jack of diomonds and puts it in her jacket pocket. Robert spreads the cards across the table face down then takes one card and uses it to flip the cards one by one like a wave letting the crowd see the cards. They all look ordinary at first but then he brings all the cards together into a deck again then takes the top card which is the jack of diomonds.)
Sam: Nice!
Tucker: Where'd you learn to do that?
Robert: My old girlfriend Marisa. She taught me more than that.
Sam: Well then let's see 'em.
Crowd: (cheers)
Robert: Alright here's one that took me a while to get the hang of. (spreads out the cards face down on the table) Pick four cards. (Sam does so)
Sam: (flips them over and they're all aces)
Robert: (brings the cards back together into the deck then flicks te top three cards off the top and flips them over showing the very same aces that Sam picked.)
Sam: Wait. If those are the same aces then what? (flips over the 4 cards she picked and the aces have been replaced with pictures of Sam in poses like a supermodel) How did you?
Robert: A real magisian never reveils his secrets. This isn't my favorite. (takes the cards back into the deck and shuffles then takes the king of spades and tosses out of camera sight. Robert squints his eyes at Sam as if he's plotting.)
Sam: (gets the message and starts fishing in her tank-top)
Guys in the crowd: Whoo!
Sam: (takes out the king of spades)
Crowd: (cheers and whistels including Tucker but Danny just sits there giving Robert a look the says "I know what you're planning.")
